Tower 28 MakeWaves Mascara – Never Say Die Beauty

Although I still like Thrive Causemetics Liquid Lash Mascara because the tubing formula definitely makes my lashes longer and thicker looking, it can be a little more difficult for me to remove. Though I usually use micellar water to remove my makeup, I can remove the tubing mascara more easily with cleansing oil. But my sensitive dry eyes have trouble with cleansing oil. What to do?

A couple of months ago, I bought a couple of mini tubes of mascara from other brands to try out. Rather than open both new tubes, I decided to start with Tower 28 MakeWaves Mascara and let the tube of Ilia wait till I finished with Tower 28.

Tower 28 MakeWaves Mascara comes with a curved wand with plastic teeth.

Because my downturned eyes don’t exactly follow the curve of a curved wand, I’m not usually a fan. But I do prefer plastic teeth on a mascara wand because I believe they do a better job separating my lashes. And this wand has two different sets of plastic teeth:

  • the teeth on the inner side of the curve add volume to lashes
  • the longer teeth on the outside of the curve add length to the lashes

Although I’m not always sure I’m hitting my lashes with the correct side of the wand, I don’t sweat it. In sum, I like this wand and it works.

Here are some of the benefits of Tower 28 MakeWaves Mascara:

  • safe for sensitive eyes (like mine) and for contact-lens wearers
  • vegan and cruelty free
  • curling, volumizing and lengthening
  • buildable
  • doesn’t smudge and flake-free, no dark smudges under your eyes
  • easy to remove
  • packaging made from 78% PCR (e.g. post-consumer recycled plastic)

Because the formula contains an ingredient that is commonly found in some haircare products, it lifts and holds lashes without making them feel dry and crispy. My lashes actually have a softer, more natural feel.

For some reason, I am having a hard time taking photos of my lashes. I need to get a macro (closeup) lens for my iPhone camera. But here’s the only photo that came out semi-OK, artistic even 😉

Here’s are better before & after photos from the Tower 28 website:

And for my friends like K. who prefer brown mascara, Tower 28 has “Rich Espresso Brown” as well as Jet black in full size for $20! In the mini for $12, black is your only option. Tower 28 also sells a pack with 2 full size tubes of Rich Espresso Brown plus a MakeWaves Lash Curler for $44, a savings of $12.

Tower 28 MakeWaves Mascara is sold on the Tower 28 website, Sephora and Amazon. Worth considering if you want to try a different mascara.

Because my Tower 28 mini mascara tube is about 3 months old, it’s just about time to move on to my next tube. So I’ll be back with thoughts on Ilia in a few weeks.
