My Hair Growth Journey Continues with Vegamour GRO+ Advanced Hair Serum – Never Say Die Beauty

Trying to regrow hair is a lifelong thing, so they say. It takes 90-120 days to judge a hair regrowth product’s effectiveness. And after that, you have to keep at it…forever!

I just looked up how long I’ve been at it, and it’s a little more than 3 years since I started using Vegamour GRO Hair Serum. Although I started out with a free bottle from Vegamour to try out for review, I have been buying it myself since then.

I used it every night before bed along the areas on my hairline above my temples where the hairline had begun to recede. In 2024, I switched from Vegamour GRO Serum to try out KeraFactor (see my thoughts about this brand here). The KeraFactor Scalp Serum lasted almost 5 months. I liked KeraFactor because it was a thicker, more viscous serum, and it was easier to apply/use because it didn’t go running down my temples onto my face.

But after I finished the bottle of KeraFactor, I switched back to Vegamour, this time to their reformulated GRO+ Advanced Hair Serum that I was sent by the company to try out.

Like their regular GRO Serum, you use it once a day. I’ve been using the Advanced formula (that no longer contains CBD like it used to) for about 70 days. Remember, I’ve been using regrowth products for about 3 years, so I’m definitely not starting from scratch.

Vegamour GRO+ Advanced Serum

Vegamour GRO+ Advanced Serum is targeted to those who have severe shedding. I wash my hair every 5-7 days to try to prevent my color from fading, and I end up with a lot of hair in the drain. So I would say that I’m the target.

The reformulated GRO+ Advanced Hair Serum contains these key ingredients:

  • GROActive+ Complex
  • Spanish Microalgae
  • Plant Stem Cells.

The above key ingredients are “in addition to” the ingredients in the regular GRO Serum, e.g. turmeric, caffeine, mung bean, red clover, biotin, though they are in the GRO+ Advanced formula as well..

Here’s Vegamour description of GRO+ Advanced Serum:

“Formulated for those with severe shedding, this hair serum is powered by our patent-pending GROActive+ Complex™, an innovation that is helping to redefine the results of what a plant-based formula can achieve. The compound features an AI-selected blend of antioxidant-rich Rhapontic Rhubarb Root and Japanese BeautyBerry Extract that work synergistically to help improve hair density. Applied daily to the scalp, the serum also contains Spanish Microalgae, a prebiotic superfood that hydrates to rebalance the scalp environment. Plant stem cells help anchor hair follicles from the root, empowering thinning hair to thrive again.

98% saw less shedding
95% said they saw less hair in the shower
95% said their scalp felt healthier”

I don’t really care about an “AI-selected” blend of anything, but I am interested in the plant stem cells if they really can “anchor hair follicles from the root”. I’m hoping that this formula can reactivate dormant follicles on my left temple area. As a matter of fact, before I got my hair recolored last week, I saw small hairs growing in that area that has felt smooth for far too long. Fingers crossed.

My Experience So Far with Vegamour GRO+ Advanced Serum

GRO+ Advanced Serum is a water-based liquid. Thus, it dries quite quickly and it is not at all greasy. It doesn’t make me have to wash my hair more frequently. However, as I mentioned above, I actually wish the serum were more viscous to prevent it from running down my face.

I have been doing my usual routine: applying the serum to my hairline along my forehead towards the two temples where my hairline was receding when I started using Vegamour GRO Hair Serum three years ago. I think I will also start to apply some GRO+ Advanced Serum to my part as well and see if that will help retard the shedding.

hairline after shower, now (scary pic!)

For some reason, the hairline on my left side of my forehead is still slower to recover than the right side, though in the photos below they look about the same. The truth is that I have more hair follicle loss on the left side.

Nevertheless, the recession of the hairline has definitely stopped and some thin hair has regrown, though my hair will never be as thick as it was when I was younger.

When I look at the sides of my bangs, they are still not as thick as they were in 2019, six years ago. And they will never be as thick as they were when I graduated college.

At any rate, I am grateful that my hair loss hasn’t gotten worse, and it has regrown somewhat. I will keep at it, and check in again if/when I have something to add.

So far, it is difficult to tell which product has given me the most promising results. Vegamour GRO Hair Serum that I started out with definitely stopped the hair loss along my hairline and seemed to regrow some hair. The KeraFactor appeared to continue the trajectory. As I wrote above, I am seeing some small hair starting to regrow in my most recalcitrant hair-follicle spot. We’ll see what happens as I finish up the second bottle of GRO+ Advanced and then use the third bottle that’s waiting in the wings.

Retail Info

Vegamour GRO+ Advanced Serum comes in a glass dropper bottle containing 1 fl. oz./30 ml. A bottle is supposed to last for 30 days, if you use a dropper full. However, I have only been using it on two spots, so it always lasts me quite a bit longer than a month.

The bottle of Vegamour GRO+ Advanced Hair Serum is priced at a not inexpensive $78 a bottle. But if you commit to using it, you can subscribe to get 16% off and free shipping. Also, if you do use it regularly, you save most by buying the 3-pack for $198 or if you subscribe, it’s $188 with free shipping. Their customer service has always been very accommodating whenever I have called to pause my subscription or lengthen the time between deliveries.

Vegamour GRO+ Advanced Hair Serum is sold on the Vegamour website, at Sephora and on Amazon.
