I did it. Today I shopped the Ulta 21 Days of Beauty Spring Sale at my local Ulta store. I bought the Bobbi Brown Waterproof Long-Wear Cream Eyeliner Stick in the shade Fog, just as I said I would in yesterday’s 21 Days post. And wouldn’t you know, the Dow lost 1000 points. Boo.
When I got to the store, they had a display of Monday’s sale products right inside the front door. I thought I saw the BB Liner Sticks among the sale products, so I went over and rummaged through the small thin packages sitting upright in glass jars that were too high up for little old me. I didn’t see Fog. Boo. A woman who looked like she was a brand manager or something else of that ilk for one of the sale brands tried to sell me on something “that could certainly sell out”. I told her I was looking for something specific. Another woman, an SA for Ulta, came over and asked if she could help. I told her what I was looking for, and she said that Bobbi Brown had a display in the prestige section of the store where they might have more shades. I can’t remember what I said to her, but it was that I was looking for Fog, one of the Cream Liner Sticks. She insisted that the cream eyeshadow sticks were on sale, and I said “No, I wrote about the Ulta 21 Days of Beauty last night for my blog and I was almost 100% certain that it was the Liners that were on sale”. She went off to check with the store manager, and of course, I was correct. She said they placed the wrong product in the sale display. Duh. Then she found me the correct product. Mission accomplished.
Trying Out Cream Eyeliner Stick
I decided to check it out as soon as I got home. First thing I noticed is how creamy it is, but not so soft that the point breaks off. Initially, I used it to tightline my upper waterlines, and it literally glided on. Then I lined my lids; also easy-peasy.
While I was at it, I swatched the liner on my wrist and photographed it. Here it is on me, a charcoal gray color.
I was surprised because it looks lighter on the exterior of the stick. It must be my light skintone, because in a video of a black woman applying it to her eyelids, it’s a beautiful pale gray.
Bobbi Brown Long-Wear Cream Eyeliner Stick is waterproof and long-lasting. I was curious to see if it would smear. Before it dried, I was able to flick the tail up to a wing with just my finger, so it is blendable.
Here are the ways you can use it:
- For a sleek line, apply eyeliner in short strokes across lash line, starting at the outer half of eye and working inward.
- To create a winged eyeliner look, draw line slightly past outer corner, then swipe finger gently along bottom of line to extend into a sharp flick.
- For a softer eyeliner look, blend the top edge of the line with fingers or a brush.
Once the cream eyeliner dried, it became non-smudgeable and unmovable. I tried to smear it with my finger: didn’t move. Then, I tried to remove it or smear it with a tissue: nothing. Next, I tried cleansing oil. With two or three wipes, it came off. I also wore it while I exercised today, and it didn’t move a bit. It is definitely non-smearing and non-flaking. I’m impressed. It is billed as 24 hour eyeliner, and they may just be right!
Although using the eyeliner stick today didn’t dull its point, it comes with a handy sharpener at the bottom of the stick.
